All Time Low Mixes New Music & Nostalgia On 2021 iHeartRadio Daytime Stage

All Time Low took the stage with one of their latest songs — but the band’s set still had a perfect mix of throwbacks, and fans were here for it.

All Time Low was one of several artists to take the Daytime Stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by Samsung Galaxy in Las Vegas on Saturday (September 18). Others in the star-studded lineup include 24kGoldn, Russell Dickerson, Gabby Barrett, Tate McRae, Conan Gray, Yungblud, Saweetie, The Kid Laroi and Olivia Rodrigo.

Some Kind of Disaster” kicked off All Time Low’s set, and the pop-punk group immediately followed with a spell of nostalgia, performing “Weightless,” from their 2009 album Nothing Personal. They kept moving with “Once In A Lifetime,” which they dropped earlier this year after hyping fans with a cryptic video. It was the latest single after releasing “Monsters,” the blackbear collaboration off of their Wake Up, Sunshine album that marked their first No. 1 song in their decade-and-a-half career. “Monsters” also surged with popularity when the band released a remixed version featuring Demi Lovato (it’s also worth noting that in addition to churning out new music, All Time Low has been busy branching out from their musical roots to release their Summer Daze 2020 rosé, which debuted in June).

Bandmates Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat spoke on iHeartRadio's podcast Inside the Studio: Home Edition last year, revealing why they opted to release Wake Up, Sunshine during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gaskarth said, with agreement from Barakat:

“We really just found that the idea of not putting out the music would be doing a disservice to our fans who were ready for it. We had already announced that it was coming out. As this was happening everything was starting to shut down and we had that conversation two weeks out with the label and everything, 'Do we push back? Do we delay this? Do we wait?'”
“The more we thought about it the more we thought it would be selling everybody short. This was an album that made us feel really good and really excited and felt kind of therapeutic and cathartic to write it so maybe some of that would shine through in the music for people in a really tough time. We just decided that it was the move to put it out and to let our fans enjoy it and hopefully have it be a safety net in all of this.”

Obviously, no All Time Low set would be complete without throwing back to “Dear Maria, Count Me In.” It released in 2007, and the iconic track turned into a viral TikTok trend earlier this year. Gaskarth had the best reaction on Twitter, calling out that he “always knew Dear Maria would be a massive TikTok song when we wrote it in 2006.”

If you missed any of the action this weekend, you can relive the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Festival by tuning in to The CW Network on Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 3rd from 8-10pm ET/PT for a two-night television special.
